Construction Equipment Forum

The Construction Equipment Forum 2025 took place on October 7th and 8th at the Coreum in Stockstadt am Rhein, near Frankfurt. It brought together more than 350 industry professionals, including manufacturers, suppliers, and construction companies, to discuss the future of construction machinery under the guiding theme: “Rethinking Construction Machinery: Sustainable. Digital. Autonomous.”
The event focused on four major areas of transformation in the industry. First, alternative drive concepts were a central topic, with hydrogen and electrification taking the spotlight. Experts like Dr. Matthias Szupories from JCB Germany explored the technical feasibility and operational challenges of hydrogen-powered machinery. Second, digitalisation and networking were discussed extensively, especially in the context of real-time data and smart construction sites. A panel featuring SITECH, Wirtgen Group, and ÖSTU-STETTIN examined the current state of digital integration and the hurdles that still need to be overcome.
Third, automation and assistance systems were explored, with a focus on autonomous construction vehicles and AI-driven technologies. Representatives from HAMM AG and Luis Technology shared insights into how these systems are being developed and implemented. Fourth, the forum addressed global market dynamics and strategic challenges, with Francesco Quaranta from Hitachi Construction Machinery offering a vision for the future of electrification and international competition.
The program included a keynote by Ralf Lüddemann from Strabag, who spoke about the expectations construction companies have of equipment manufacturers in the context of increasingly networked construction sites. A particularly engaging panel discussion tackled the topic of automation and autonomous work, debating both the technical possibilities and the broader implications for the industry.
One of the standout features of the 2025 forum was the “Women in Construction Summit,” which provided a platform for networking and empowerment. Led by Miria Wellenzohn from JCB and Maximiliane Straub from Goldbeck, the summit highlighted the growing role of women in shaping the future of construction technology.
Throughout the two days, attendees had the opportunity to engage with over 40 exhibitors, participate in hands-on workshops, and explore cutting-edge innovations. The forum reinforced its role as a strategic meeting point for decision-makers and innovators, emphasizing sustainability, digital transformation, and automation as the key pillars for the future of construction equipment.
